YouTuber Ankush Bahuguna, in a video shared on social media, told how recently he got digitally arrested and that he was digitally arrested for 40 hours. Bahuguna told how the thugs trapped him. He said when digitally arrested, he lost both his money and his mental health. The YouTuber also shared that it sounds stupid, and he doesn't even believe it happened to him.
Bahuguna said that he had gotten a call from an international number. He also picked up the call without a second thought. It was an automated call in which it told that one of his couriers had been canceled. After this, he was connected to another call. The caller told him that the Customs Department had seized the courier as something illegal had been found in it. Ankush said he got so scared about all these things that he could not understand anything, thereafter the thugs asked about his Aadhar card, etc. information, and digitally arrested him.
The YouTuber said that 'the thugs made many serious allegations against me like money laundering, drug smuggling and said that I am the main suspect in a big case. I was told that I did not even have time to go to the police station and the thugs told me that they could connect the call to me from the police station. After this, my WhatsApp call was made to a person wearing a police uniform. According to Ankush, 'Contact with the outside world was cut off and I was kept on a continuous video call for 40 hours. The thugs were sent to the bank to transfer the money, but the money could not be transferred due to the bank being closed. After this, he was asked to stay in a hotel. However, when a friend messaged him, he realized that he might have become a victim of fraud. After this, he fled from the hotel. Ankush said about the fraud that happened to him 'I have lost both money and mental health and I cannot believe that I became a victim of such fraud.'
In digital arrest, the fraudsters pose as fake police or investigation officers. By showing the fear of arrest, the victim is imprisoned in the house and the victim is asked to stay in front of the camera for 24 hours. He is not allowed to contact anyone. The victim is monitored online. After this, the victim is intimidated and money is transferred.
