'We can change the name, not the existence', said brother Arya Babbar on Prateik Babbar name change

Actor-politician Raj Babbar's family has been in the news for some time now. The reason is Raj Babbar's son Prateik Babbar's conflict with his father first, then not inviting his father Raj Babbar to his wedding. Then recently this news gained even more traction when Prateik Babbar removed his father's surname Babbar from his name's surname and changed his name to Prateik Smita Patil. While talking to Hindustan Times, Arya Babbar reacted to Prateik's decision and said, "All I want to say is that Smita Maa is our mother too. Which name he wants to keep and which he doesn't want to keep, is his choice. Tomorrow I change my name from Arya Babbar to Arya or Rajesh, I will still remain Babbar."

Speaking further on this subject and the claims made by Prateik Babbar, Arya Babbar said, "You can change your name, but not your existence. I will remain Babbar only, because my existence is the same. How can you change that? Well, the boy understands how he wants to think about it. Whatever I had to say about this, I have already said it." On the news going on in the media and people's talk, Arya Babbar said, "We are a family that lives in the public eye, so it will be said. We can't do anything about it. These things are a part of this industry. Ultimately, we are public figures."

Earlier, Prateik Babbar, while talking about changing his name in a recent interview with the Times of India, said, "I don't care about its consequences. I care about how I will feel when I hear this name. I want to completely connect with my mother's name and her legacy. I don't think there is a need to tarnish that legacy with any other name. There should be only her name and her legacy. This is what I am trying to become. I am trying to be like my mother, not like my father." Prateik has now changed his name to Prateik Smita Patil.

Prateik may have removed Babbar from his name and added Smita Patil, but his official Instagram account still has Babbar in front of his name. Prateik's Instagram account shows his name as Prateik Patil Babbar.
