Actor Vaibhav Sharma, who was last seen in the movie Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor and is part of the upcoming film I Am No Queen, says that nutrition is the backbone of staying fit. He adds that workouts thrive on proper nutrition. “It is more important than physical fitness itself, as proven by facts. It’s actually nutrition that determines the growth and development of physical fitness because it’s the fuel that keeps the engine going,” he says.
Talking about his own diet, he explains, “For me, the agenda is simple: eat healthy, home-cooked food. I’m not much of a diet person because of my high metabolism, but I keep in mind that what keeps me in shape and on track are my sleep and workouts.” When asked if he has ever found it tough to stay fit, he recalls, “It happened during the shoot of our film Jersey. We shot for a good 15 days, and then COVID happened, so we had to maintain our physical appearance and shape during the 5-7 month break that followed. We were sitting at home with just hopes, food, and ample rest! (laughs) during that COVID phase until the shoot started again. So, it was tough, to say the least.”
He adds, “It’s quite a monumental task to maintain nutritional needs and balance the diet during the uncertainty of schedules that we, as budding actors, have to face. But I’m blessed with a fast metabolism, so I can get away with a few cheat meals here and there.” The actor believes that public figures must take it upon themselves to spread the importance of eating healthy. “It is our duty to promote healthy living and nutrition through our social platforms. If we can bring about a change in even a single person’s life through our efforts, that would be more than enough. But, at the same time, I won’t consider wrong or unethical endorsements, or promote something that is unhealthy or not beneficial to society,” he says.
