The 2024-25 edition of the Laxminarayan Global Music Festival was held from 20 December to 22 December at the prestigious Rasika Ranjani Sabha, with a spectacular series of instrumental music and dance performances. A well-curated festival that featured famous resident instrumentalists and some exciting new talent, the Vijay Karthikeyan-Prakash Ilaiyaraaja's nadaswaram act was as enthralling as Satish Vyas' jugalbandi on the santoor with U Rajesh on mandolin or the scintillating act by Ambi Subramaniam on violin.
The Laxminarayan Yuva Mahotsav presented new talents such as C Charulatha on veena and Indrayudha Majumdar on sarod. Tribute to the legends of music was also paid in the form of offering the Laxminarayan International Award to Dr. Padma Subramaniam for his immense contribution to the world of dance. One of the legends in the field of Indian classical music, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan was also conferred the prestigious award, which stands as testimony to his brilliant career.
The festival concluded with a treat that the audience would never forget a legendary Jugalbandi between global violin icon Dr. L. Subramaniam and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. In attendance was Dr. Padma Subramaniam, apart from Subhalakshmi Khan.
The Laxminarayan Global Music Festival, too, had an exciting new announcement to make. There would be an annual all-day instrumental music festival, held annually on the third Saturday of December every year. The festival has always been an important platform to celebrate both the rich heritage and future of Indian classical music.
