Tamil director Jayabharathi dies at the age of 77
Jayabharathi: Jayabharathi, director of films like 'Kudisai' and 'Puthiran', died at the age of 77.
Kudisai Jayabharathi, a well-known Tamil director as well as writer died at the age of 77. The reason behind his death was he was suffering from age-related illness, after which he was admitted to the hospital. He breathed his last in the hospital on Friday morning. Kudisai is known for the film 'The Hut'.
Comedian and former MLA S V Shekhar says, "77-year-old Jayabharathi was a person who lived only for cinema. When he used to get Rs 10,000 for work, he could do some work other than cinema. S V Shekhar gave his voice in Kudisai.
The film Kudisai was released on 30 March 1979, and the film is preserved in the National Film Archives of India. The film hit the screens 43 years ago. Once, the director Jayabharathi himself had said that the film Kudisai was the first Tamil film produced through crowdfunding.
