Relief to YouTuber accused of threatening Salman Khan, court granted bail

A Mumbai court on Monday granted bail to YouTuber Banwarilal Gujjar, who was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill actor Salman Khan. He was taken into custody last month for threatening to kill the actor and later claiming that he had links with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

A case was registered against the YouTuber under the provisions of the Criminal Intimidation and Information Technology Act. The police had claimed about Banwarilal that he uploaded a video on his YouTube channel in which he talked about the murder of Salman Khan and his links with Lawrence Bishnoi and Gold Brar along with other gangsters. The police had said that the YouTuber uploaded the video with an eye on increasing the number of viewers of his online channel. The matter was heard by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Esplanade Court, VR Patil, who accepted his bail application on Monday.

In his bail plea, moved through advocate Faiz Merchant, Banwarilal said that he had been falsely implicated in the case without any proper or solid content. He mentioned in his plea that he makes videos to get entertainment and fame and uploads it on his channel. It is petitioned that a copy of the video is in the FIR. Nowhere in the FIR has he said that he was going to kill Salman Khan. On this reasoning, the sections imposed in the case do not hold against Banwarilal.
