Meanwhile, Rajinikanth expressed his love and gratitude towards his wife during an interview. He said that he used to have a very bad addiction to alcohol and smoking, but his wife's love completely changed the actor.

India Today reports, "Speaking at the 50th-day celebrations of YG Mahendran's play Charukesi, Rajinikanth thanked YG Mahendran for introducing him to Lata. "I will always be indebted to YG Mahendran for introducing me to my wife Lata. Whenever I used to be a conductor, I used to drink alcohol every day and there was no count of how many cigarettes I smoked every day. My morning used to start with non-veg and at least twice a day I used to eat non-veg. How Deathly these three things together are," said the actor.
The actor gave credit to his wife for this transformation and said that it was she who molded him with her love. He said, "Actually it was my wife Lata who changed me by showering love on me. She taught me to live a disciplined life." On the occasion, the actor claimed that people who consume cigarettes, alcohol, and non-veg are not able to lead a healthy life after 60 years of age. On the issue, he also appealed to all the people present in the program to shun smoking and alcohol.
The super star Rajinikanth, along with his wife called Lata has spent together over four decades. The two met on the area of film shootings where upon Lata had gone to interview Rajinikanth. During this interview, a spark of love ignited between the two. The actor of Vettaiyan was so drawn towards his future wife that at the end of that interview he proposed marriage to Lata. Since then, Rajinikanth and Lata have been together like each other's shadow.
