In the Kunal Kamra controversy case, Mumbai Police had summoned the stand-up comedian. Mumbai Police has now rejected the comedian's appeal for a week's time to appear before the authorities. Kamra's lawyer personally submitted the appeal and response at the Khar police station. However, the police have turned down Kamra's appeal.

According to reports, Khar Police will issue a second summons to Kunal Kamra today under Section 35 of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure (IPC). Earlier, Mumbai Police had sent a summons to the stand-up artist asking him to appear before the investigating officer on Tuesday. The MIDC police registered an FIR against Kamra for his remarks during the stand-up comedy show, which was transferred to the Khar police for further investigation.

Kamra had stirred up a political storm with his controversial 'traitor' joke, which was allegedly about the Maharashtra politician. Several political leaders condemned Kamra's statement during the stand-up show and demanded action against him. However, Kamra shared a new video on Tuesday, mocking Shiv Sena workers for vandalizing The Habitat comedy club in Mumbai, where he had earlier performed.

On Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on the controversy, "Our CM Devendra Fadnavis had responded on the issue on behalf of the government. Our CM has said that action will be taken as per the law." Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took a tough stand on the alleged derogatory remarks made by stand-up artist Kunal Kamra against Eknath Shinde. Speaking in the state assembly on Monday, the chief minister said the government will not accept freedom of expression if it leads to tyranny.

Kamra had called the Shiv Sena leader a traitor and also sang a parody of him during his performance at the Habitat Comedy Club at the Unicontinental Hotel in the Khar area, which led to a controversy. Amid the controversy, Kunal Kamra has said he will not apologize for his controversial remarks about the politician and criticized the vandalism at the location in Mumbai where the comedy show was recorded.
