Oscars 2025 nomination date changed due to massive Los Angeles fire; Know the new date

This giant forest fire and strong winds in the Los Angeles area have also affected the 97th Academy Awards-Oscars 2025. In view of the Los Angeles forest fire, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended the Oscar nomination voting window. Voting opened on January 8 for some 10,000 Academy members. It was due to stay open until January 12, but it has just been extended to January 14, a Variety report says.
Apart from that, the nominations were to be declared on January 17. However, this date has now been changed. The Oscar nominations will now be declared on January 19.
The Academy sent an email to members on Wednesday afternoon, in which CEO Bill Cramer informed about the change in dates. The email read, "We offer our condolences to those affected by the devastating fires in Southern California. Many of our members and industry colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area. We are worried about them. Our condolences are with those affected by the fires."
