Kavita Kaushik says goodbye to the television industry: "Content is so regressive, I've been a part of it as well"
Kavita Kaushik is well-known for her role in the comedy series FIR. She recently announced her decision to quit the TV industry because of its regressive content.
One of the popular roles that Kavita Kaushik has played is the iconic character of Inspector Chandramukhi Chautala in FIR. Now the actor has his quitting plans to leave the idiot box as she claimed grueling work hours as one of the reasons. Kavita, in an interview to Times Now, said she is only offered roles in TV shows to play daayan (witch).
Kavita, speaking on the reason for bidding adieu to the TV industry, expressed her opinion: "TV toh mujhe karna hi nahin hai—I am not interested in working in the TV industry at all. I can't do 30 days of work. I am open to doing web shows or movies, but I am not a typical-looking heroine who can easily get cast for all kinds of shootings.". There are romance-based roles that work perfectly in tandem with my personality. I keep getting offers for television projects featuring daayans (witches), such as Shaitaani Rasmein. I cannot continue to lead the same life that I did three years ago when I began working full-time on television. Although I definitely cherished that phase, I was younger, and I desperately wanted money. However, I am no longer in the position to do so and hence cannot invest that kind of time. "Infact FIR didn't use to take a lot of time yet I would crib."
Kavita further said, "TV content is so regressive too and that's why I don't want to be a part of it. There was a time when TV was progressive and we had different kinds of shows. There was a variety and there was entertainment for everyone. But now, the kind of content we show is really bad for the young generations to even watch. Кind of regression we show in our reality shows and drama makes people hate each оthеr. I have been a part of it as well, and I am very sorry. I have contributed to that regression. I do not approve of what television is showing. "Jo bhi bolo, hum Indians hain and hume lagta hai jo TV par dikh raha hai vo sach hain" [At the end of the day, we are Indians and we think whatever is shown on television is the truth]. We subconsciously get inspired by it.
