It feels magical when people address me by my character: Charrul Malik
Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! has continued to be number one since the very beginning, and though Charrul shared that she doesn’t feel any kind of pressure to maintain the position, there is a certain influence when performing with seasoned actors.
Charrul Malik is over the moon that her show Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!, which is produced by Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli, under their banner Edit II, has completed nine years on the telly. Though she has been a part of the show for only two and a half years, she is happy that her fans call her by her character name, Rusa.
She said, “The show has completed nine years, and I'm thrilled that I'll mark my third year in July. The past 2.5 years have been incredibly enjoyable. The show is fantastic, and being a part of it is a tremendous honor for me. It feels magical when people address me by my character, Rusa. I'm genuinely happy and extend my congratulations to everyone on the team, including our producers, Binaiferr ma’am and Sanjay sir, for achieving nine successful years. My wish is for the show to continue entertaining everyone for a long time to come.”
Calling them the legends of the comedy genre, she is all praise for the producers of the show and said that it’s a dream come true working with them. She added, “I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of such an iconic show. Time has flown, and both Binaiferr ma’am and Sanjay sir are not only cool but also affectionate and warm. They stand by you, whether on or off-screen, always offering motivation and encouragement.”
She further said, “They're like family to me, and I've known them for over ten years. Officially, it's been three years, but even before that, I knew them. They're not just highly professional, but also warm and beautiful from the inside out. Especially Binaiferr ma’am, she's like an elder sister to me, and I truly adore and admire her. She's an inspiring, grounded personality with a remarkable and sharp mind. Sanjay sir and Binaiferr ma’am, in my opinion, are truly matchless.”
Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! has continued to be number one since the very beginning, and though Charrul shared that she doesn’t feel any kind of pressure to maintain the position, there is a certain influence when performing with seasoned actors.
“The show has consistently held the top spot, and while I don't feel general pressure, there's a subtle pressure working with such seasoned actors. We usually nail scenes in one take, and I aim to keep up with them. It's about maintaining a pace that aligns with everyone, ensuring scenes flow seamlessly without any disruptions. I see it as a challenge rather than pressure, and I embrace it as an opportunity to stay in sync with the team and contribute my best to each scene,” she said.
“I don't feel any pressure because our show is designed to be stress-free. We enjoy every day of shooting, and the entire theme revolves around being carefree, laughing, smiling, and having fun. I don't worry about meeting audience expectations because the more expectations you have, the more stress you'll feel. So, just go with the flow, give your best effort, and don't overthink things, that's the key,” she added.
Charrul also asserted that in a daily soap each character undergoes a continuous journey based on the storyline, and pointed out that while a character might receive all the limelight in one sequence, there might be occasions where the said character has taken a back seat. She added, “Patience is the key. It's like a rollercoaster, with highs and lows for every character, making it an integral part of daily soap dynamics. Building character is a gradual process that requires dedication and hard work. The goal is for people to recognize you by your character's name, and achieving that requires a considerable amount of patience and focused effort.”
She also mentioned that every day comes as a surprise to her because every day they do something new as there is no specific sequence that they follow. “Our comedy show has seen its share of twists and turns, but it's different from other shows that heavily rely on prolonged suspense. The lack of a set pattern makes every story surprising, and our show stands out from the rest. I'm genuinely surprised each day, wondering what's in store – whether it's a funny incident, a playful prank, or a unique twist in the storyline,” she said.
And just like every day might not be the same for the sequences, it’s not the same for the actors either. Asked Charrul how she keeps herself and her fellow actors motivated, she said, “Every day is unique—sometimes it's fast-paced, other times slow; there are days with many scenes, and days where you might not have any scenes at all. I personally keep myself motivated, and watching my experienced fellow actors inspires me.”
“They are seasoned and full of enthusiasm, making the set a lively place. We create moments, have conversations, and enjoy the process, constantly generating fresh content. The atmosphere is fun-loving and already quite motivating. I feel fortunate to be part of a show where motivation is embedded in every script, and the excitement kicks in as soon as we get our hands on it,” she ended
