Income Tax Department officials raided the house and office of 'Pushpa 2' director Sukumar in Hyderabad on Wednesday, January 22. According to Amar Ujala, the raid began early in the morning and continued for several hours. Sukumar was reportedly at the Hyderabad airport when he was taken back to his residence by Income Tax officials, after which the raid was conducted. A day earlier, the film's producer Dil Raju's house was also raided by the Income Tax Department.
The reason for the raid has not been revealed yet. The Income Tax raids come at a time when Sukumar is enjoying the success of his latest film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, has grossed over Rs 1200 crore in India. However, no official statement has been issued by the Income Tax Department regarding these raids or their impact on Sukumar and his recent cinematic achievement.
Filmmaker Dil Raju's properties were also raided by the Income Tax on Tuesday. The department simultaneously raided Raju's offices and residences in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills. During this, the properties of his brother Shirish, daughter Hansita Reddy, and other relatives were searched. Reportedly, the Income Tax raids on Raju's properties are part of the investigation into suspected tax evasion and alleged financial irregularities.
The Income Tax Department's investigation has also reached Naveen Yerneni and Ravishankar Yelamanchili, producers of Pushpa 2: The Rule's production house Mythri Movie Makers. Over 55 teams have been deployed for the elaborate search operation at eight locations linked to Raju and Mythri Movie Makers. Mango Media, a film promotion company owned by Ramakrishna Veerapaneni, was also raided by Income Tax officials.
