Hansika Motwani hit the headlines when Muskaan, who was her ex-sister-in-law, accused the actress, as well as her mother and brother, of various charges including domestic violence, and lodged an FIR against them. Muskaan was the ex-wife of Prashant. Both of them were divorced in the year 2022. Now Hansika Motwani approached the Bombay High Court with a plea for dismissal of the FIR that had been lodged by TV actor Muskaan Nancy James against her.

Hansika and the latter's mother had approached the High Court seeking cancellation of the FIR against Hansika. Muskaan had accused husband Prashant Motwani, sister-in-law Hansika, and mother-in-law Jyoti, alleging cruelty, domestic violence, injury, and criminal intimidation. According to media reports, the hearing of the case has been scheduled for July 3. The High Court, led by Justices Sarang Kotwal and SM Modak, issued notice on her plea and has scheduled the hearing for July 3.

According to reports, Hansika's plea reportedly states that the FIR was filed 'malafidely' after she demanded the return of Rs 27 lakh loaned to Muskaan and Prashant for their wedding. Hansika claims that the money was paid to the wedding organisers but the couple is yet to return her money. "The allegations against the petitioner are baseless and arise out of domestic disputes which have been exaggerated to bring them within the ambit of criminal prosecution," the plea reportedly said.

Actress Hansika Motwani also said that she has no direct involvement in her brother's marital issues and claimed that the case was filed only because she is Prashant's sister. His petition also reportedly states that the FIR against him is aimed at pressurizing the family for a financial settlement in the ongoing marital dispute. In February this year, Hansika and Jyoti got anticipatory bail from the Mumbai Sessions Court. Now he is asking the court to quash the FIR.
