Five Indian films in the Oscar 2025 claim list, competition with more than 300 films, voting is the only support

Now that 'Laapta Ladies' is definitely out of the Oscar race, there's still hope for an Indian film at this prestigious award. With two months left to go for the 97th Academy Awards ceremony, now the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has published a list of 323 feature films that have qualified for this year's Oscars. Of these, 207 films have gained eligibility in the Best Picture category of prestigious awards, which interestingly also includes the inclusion of five Indian films that could make it in the list of 207.
The Indian films contending in the list are Kanguva (Tamil), The Goat Life (Hindi), Santosh (Hindi), Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (Hindi), All We Imagine As Light (Malayalam-Hindi) and Girls Will Be Girls (Hindi-English). Voting for the nomination of these films will start tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and will go on till January 12, 2025, the Academy will announce the final nominations on January 17, 2025.
Manobala Vijayabalan has shared a post on X about 'Kanguva' making it to the list. She wrote, 'Kanguva' enters Oscar 2025. Indian audiences are eagerly waiting to see if any Indian film gets nominated.
The film Kanguva was made on a budget of around Rs 350 crore. However, the film flopped at the box office. Now this film is competing with 323 films from all over the world at the Oscars. Surya (Surya) is in the lead role in this film. Apart from him, the film also stars stars like Bobby Deol and Disha Patani. This film is available on Prime Video. Talking about the Oscars, they will be held in Los Angeles on March 2, 2025.
