Kahaani film director Sujoy Ghosh, in a conversation with casting director Mukesh Chhabra, said that he was not able to bring a vanity van for Vidya Balan. The actress changed clothes for shooting in the car itself during this time, according to the director. "I was facing budget problems those days," the director said. "We didn't have much budget. She used to change clothes putting a black cloth in her car," the director remembered.
Director Sujoy Ghosh praised actress Vidya Balan. He said despite the low budget, Vidya agreed to do the film. When the film Aladdin offered by him in the year 2009 was a flop, Vidya could have refused to work, but she did not do so.
