Disha's father's lawyer in trouble for making controversial remarks on judge, High Court starts contempt proceedings
Disha Salian Case: Bombay High Court today, Tuesday, initiated contempt proceedings against lawyer Nilesh Ojha for making reprehensible and derogatory remarks against a sitting High Court judge during a press conference on Disha Salian's death case.

Bombay High Court on Tuesday took suo motu cognizance and initiated contempt proceedings against lawyer Nilesh Ojha for his objectionable and derogatory language against a sitting High Court judge in the course of a press conference on the death of Disha Salian. Lawyer Nilesh Ojha represents the late Disha's father Satish Salian. Satish has gone to the High Court seeking an inquiry into his daughter Disha Salian's death.
A larger bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe, Justice A S Chandurkar, Justice M S Sonak, Justice Ravindra Ghuge, and Justice A S Gadkari said that the remarks made by Nilesh Ojha against a sitting High Court judge and former Chief Justice of Bombay High Court in a press conference held on April 1 were reprehensible and derogatory.
The court, while posting the matter for further hearing on April 29, said, "Prima facie the statements make out a case of criminal contempt. We direct the registry to issue notice to Ojha." The court directed YouTube and a Marathi news channel to immediately remove the video of the press conference and also barred them from uploading it in the future.
In a press conference held on April 1, Satish Salian's counsel Nilesh Ojha levelled corruption allegations against a sitting High Court judge before whom the petition was listed for hearing on April 2. The high court on April 2 said the petition pertains to the workload of a bench headed by Justice Sarang Kotwal and ordered the high court registry to take steps to place the matter before that bench.
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager Disha Salian was found dead in June 2020. Last month, Satish Salian had moved the high court seeking a fresh probe into the mysterious circumstances of his daughter. He said the petition urged the high court to order the registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and handing over the investigation to the CBI. The petition alleged that Disha Salian was brutally raped and murdered and later a political conspiracy was hatched to save some influential persons.
