Date of the hearing of the Dhanush-Nayanthara copyright case will now be heard soon
Dhanush-Nayanthara: The dispute between actors Dhanush and Nayanthara is not taking the name of ending. Now the Madras High Court has adjourned the hearing till January 22.
The entire dispute between actors Dhanush and Nayanthara is about 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale'. Dhanush had filed a case against the actress and her husband Vignesh Shivan and Netflix for using BTS footage from 'Naanum Rowdy Dhan'. Now the Madras High Court has postponed the final hearing.
The controversy over the copyright dispute between actress Nayanthara and actor Dhanush's production house, Wunderbar Production, has been doing the rounds for a long time. Now, the Madras High Court adjourned the final hearing of the case to January 22. Since Netflix sought time to advance its case, Judge Abdul Quddous fixed January 22 as the date of the hearing and said no further adjournment would be given.
In his complaint, Dhanush contended that the documentary makers infringed his copyright protected under the Copyright Act, 1957, as they did not take a No-Objection Certificate from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale', currently streamed on Netflix. Dhanush and Nayanthara were close friends for several years. Things took a sour turn between them when Nayanthara issued a statement accusing him of misbehaving by not allowing her to use the clip.
Nayanthara also responded to Dhanush and wrote in an open letter, 'My fans and well-wishers are waiting for this documentary of mine. This documentary is the result of the efforts of many people. For two years we waited for your permission and kept asking for your NOC, but you did not allow us to use some scenes, songs, and even photographs of 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan'. Finally, we gave up and decided to release the documentary with the existing version. I am sad that my most special film could not be included in this documentary.
