Famous Bengali director Arun Roy died at the age of 56 on Thursday due to a serious lung infection. Roy was battling cancer for a year. Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital confirmed his death.
Arun Roy, whose real name is Arunav Raichoudhury. He was recently admitted to the hospital due to deteriorating health. Initially, he was kept in the ICU and then he was kept with the help of the BiPAP system, but his condition was worsening in the last few days, due to which he was put on ventilation.
He was undergoing treatment at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Confirming the death, his treating doctor Dr. Kinjal Nanda penned an emotional obituary for the departed director on his Facebook page "My Hiralal, rest in peace, just like the real Hiralal." Arun Roy, Dr. Nanda stated will be taken to his Haridevpur house at 1 pm on Thursday. Later, his body will be taken to the Technician Studio for all fans and colleagues to pay their respects to him.
The film was a biopic on revolutionary Jatindranath Mukherjee, based on his life during the shooting of 2023's 'Bagha Jatin', and he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
