The new online web series 'Adolescence' on the online site Netflix is earning accolades constantly. Having watched it, even the biggest directors and producers are becoming fans of it. Now another name has been added to the list of 'Adolescence' fans, that of Bollywood self-absorbed director Anurag Kashyap. Anurag Kashyap has appreciated the British miniseries 'Adolescence' directed by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham. This show deals with the life of a boy who is barely 13 years old but has been accused of murder. The uniqueness of the show is that all the scenes of the show have been shot in a single take. The show is earning accolades constantly.

After veteran filmmakers like Shekhar Kapur and Hansal Mehta praised this series, now Anurag Kashyap has also praised 'Adolescence'. Expressing his feelings about the series, Anurag Kashyap has shared a post on Instagram. In this post, Anurag writes, "Just watched Adolescence in one go. I am surprised and jealous of how someone can do this. Child actors Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham, who not only play the father but are also the co-creators of the show, have performed so brilliantly. A lot of hard work has gone into this whole show. I can't even imagine how much rehearsal and preparation they must have done so that they could shoot every episode in one shot. Cinematographer Matthew Lewis and filmmaker Philip Barentini are so talented. It is better than any film or anything I have ever seen. It takes time, it takes courage not to miss a single detail. Many congratulations to co-creator Jack Thorne and the entire team. It is not possible to complete it without a great team and determination."

Along with praising 'Adolescence', Anurag Kashyap strongly criticized Netflix's attitude towards the content made in India. In the comments section of his post, Anurag targeted the top officials of Netflix and accused them of double standards. Anurag Kashyap wrote, "Recently Ted Sarandos posted a post in which he said that every now and then a film comes that gives a new experience, challenges the boundaries of creativity and gives a career-making performance. I hope he means it. Because his show on Netflix India is exactly the opposite. If he was offered this, he would probably reject it or turn it into a 90-minute film. However, this also seems impossible, because the ending is not black and white."

Further targeting Netflix India, director Kashyap said, “I met them twice after Sacred Games and there was a complete lack of empathy, courage and stupidity as well as extreme insecurity on the part of the series head and team, who kept getting fired again and again. This disappoints me. How can we create something so powerful and honest with a group of the most dishonest and morally corrupt Netflix India who have very strong support from the boss in Los Angeles. This hypocrisy of Ted and Bella is in relation to the Indian market of 140 billion people, where the only aim is to increase subscribers and nothing else.”

Anurag Kashyap went on to be even harsher and went down memory lane and said, “There was a time when Eric Barmack would reach out on Facebook to make something with Netflix but now they send you a shot like Saare Jahaan Se Achcha which is not even written properly and is half-baked. The director has already changed and the shoot has been done twice. All this makes me disappointed and jealous of shows like Adolescence. I hope they learn from the appreciation it is getting and understand that all the best things on Indian Netflix are either adapted from somewhere like Delhi Crimes and Black Warrant or the ones they least believed in like Kohra, and Trial By Fire. Wishing you a better future.”
