Angelina Jolie is going to shoot in Paris again for her first English-language film directed by Alice Winocour. After playing the role of famous opera singer Maria Callas in Pablo Larrain's 'Maria', she is now going to show her acting skills once again. This film named 'Stitches' is set in the world of high fashion, which takes place in Paris. Jolie will be seen acting in the film as a filmmaker, one of three women whose lives collide with each other during fashion week.
Shooting on the film is due to commence early next year. It will be produced by Charles Gilibert of Paris-based banner CG Cinéma with Zhang Xin and William Horberg for Closer Media. Pathé Films will distribute the film in France, Solid Biz handles other rights. The film will be shot in both French and English, as was the case in Winocour's last film Proxima. Green plays an astronaut. For that character, Green received a nomination for the Cesar Award. The film also obtained the Platform Prize in Toronto and the Jury Prize in San Sebastian.
Jolie was last in Paris to shoot for 'Maria', through which the life story of the famous Greek opera singer was recreated during her final days in the 1970s. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and received an eight-minute standing ovation. This role of Callas has put Jolie in the Best Actress race for the first time in 15 years. She was last nominated back in 2009 doing work in Clint Eastwood's 'The Changeling' and won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2000 for 'Girl, Interrupted'.
The current international projects slate of Charles Gilibert includes the highly-anticipated next film of Jim Jarmusch, Father Mother Sister Brother, starring Cate Blanchett and Adam Driver. Next in line will be Kristen Stewart's directorial debut 'The Chronology of Water', adapted from author Lidia Yuknavitch's 2011 book.
