According to the officer investigating the case, 'After the incident, the accused slept at a bus stop near Patwardhan Garden in Bandra West till 7 am on January 16. Later he boarded a train and reached Worli'. The officer said, 'Investigation has found that he went up to the seventh-eighth floor by stairs, then entered the duct area. Climbed to the 12th floor using a pipe. Entered the actor's flat through the bathroom window. Then he came out of the bathroom, where he was seen by the actor's staff, after which several scenes took place one after the other, and then the attack took place'.
The accused of the attack on Saif Ali Khan kept sleeping at the Bandra bus stop after carrying out the incident. A hammer, screwdriver, nylon rope, and many other items have been recovered from his bag. Police say that the accused Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad is a Bangladeshi citizen, who entered India illegally. He had changed his name to Bijoy Das. He was arrested from Thane city. Police said that he entered Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's house in Satguru Sharan Building in Bandra on the morning of January 16 with the intention of theft. The officer said that the accused first started arguing with the nanny present in the house and demanded Rs 1 crore. Hearing the noise, Saif Ali Khan reached there and caught him. The accused was shocked and stabbed the actor in the back. Saif Ali Khan later locked the flat as he thought the accused was locked inside. But, the accused managed to escape from the same place from where he had entered.
